Every year we celebrate a man who stood up and fought for what he believed in and changed the world with those beliefs. Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on January 18th this year and there is no shortage of events to commemorate this amazing individual’s life. A parade celebrating the life and accomplishments of the civil rights leader. Cheer and dance squads, school bands, equestrian groups, floats and more will be marching in the parade to honor the late Dr. King. The parade starts at noon at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street. Learn more about the parade here.
To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the great William Shakespeare’s death, Center Stage will be putting on their rendition of his classic comedy, As You Like It. Traditionally done with an all-male cast, Center Stage will turn tradition on its head as it performs the play with an all-female cast. The 25 minute drive to the theater from McHenry Row will give you time to practice your best Shakespearean insults. As You Like It will be going on until Valentine’s Day next month so make sure you see it before it’s too late! Find out how to purchase your tickets here.
